When I talked to my dentist about running his practice finances, I was shocked. Coming from the world of financial technology, I couldn’t believe that in a thriving practice with millions of dollars in annual collections, most of the financial jobs were done by his staff and handled on paper. His team spent tens of hours every week manually entering payments, depositing and reconciling paper checks, and sending out patient statements full of confusing billing codes.
In this talk, we’ll share how Lassie automated the insurance payment processing in Dr. Eric Kwon’s office — saving his team 60 hours a month on average and resulting in a 4x faster cash flow.
We’ll cover what it was like for Dr. Kwon to run the finances himself after his trusted office manager left, a job which I took over for a few months myself. Then I’ll explain how we developed software that automatically posts insurance payments straight into his practice management system. As the grandson of small business owners from The Netherlands, he is on a mission to bring easy-to-use technology to doctor offices across the country. He aims to make it more predictable, fun, and easy to run private health practices.
Dr. Eric Kwon
Eric S. Kwon D.D.S. is an AACA member and the owner of Grace Dental, a highly-rated general dental practice in Menlo Park, California. He graduated with honors from USC and went on to receive his dental training from UCSF. In addition, Dr. Kwon received advanced dental training at the VA Northern California Health Care System.
Dr. Kwon focuses on implant, cosmetic, and family dentistry. He is zealous about continuing education and has proven this by becoming a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD) in 2015.
