Dr. Joan Werleman
Dr. Werleman was born in The Hague, Holland and raised on the Caribbean Dutch island of Aruba. She graduated from the University of Maryland Baltimore College of Dental Surgery in 1992 followed by a General Practice Residency at York Hospital in 1993 after which she became the founder and CEO Dr. Werleman & Associates, a general, cosmetic and family general dentistry practice.
Being passionate about sleep she completed both her residency training in Dental Sleep Medicine at Tufts School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA in 2015 and their Pediatric Dental Sleep Medicine residency in 2021. The curriculum covered in-depth and detailed training in all aspects of sleep medicine, cranio-facial pain, TMJ and pediatric dental sleep medicine. The training involved lectures from doctors and clinicians in the Boston area including Harvard School of Medicine.
In 2016 Dr. Werleman joined the Chicago Deep Bite Gallerite group and has immersed herself in a new world of Invisalign and adding a million years of health to her community.
In 2020 while sheltering in place during the COVID19 Pandemic she wrote and published “Bulletproof Sleep: make sleep great again” for people to educate themselves about Obstructive Sleep Apnea and how to get help for this silent killer.
She enjoys visiting and spending time with her family in Aruba. On the weekends she can be found enjoying kayaking, biking, teaching aerial yoga, golf and traveling.
